Message of Rtn. Kuldeep Jandial District Chairman Diplomatic Relations to the participants at
MUNA 2008. |
| |
It is with immense pleasure that I invite you to participate in the milestone 10th edition of RCPNE Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA). The conference will be held on the 16th and 17th of February 2008, at Indira College of Commerce, Wakad, Pune. The programme is part of the International Service Avenue as a District 3130 event and is jointly hosted by the Rotary & Rotaract Club of Pune North East.
The primary aim of the Model United Nations Assembly is to encourage the youth to increase their knowledge and understanding of international events, by being part of a simulated United Nations conference. We also strive to spread this awareness through a wide cross-section of participating institutions.
Over the years, the event has attracted some of the best debating talent from a number of prestigious institutions. We hope that you will join us in celebrating 10 years of debating excellence and socio-political awareness. The staff at RCPNE MUNA 2008 is committed to delivering an enriching and unforgettable experience to all participants. In our effort to constantly improve, we have introduced a few changes to the structure and design of the event. Apart from this, to celebrate the 10th edition, we have planned some special features this year.
This being the 10th edition, the number of participating teams is expected to reach a crescendo. However, more than the numbers, we are concerned about the quality to deliberations that take place during the conference. Kindly therefore research the position of the country you are representing as best as could be. We also encourage you to take advantage of the pre-event orientation programmes that will be conducted during the weeks leading to the event.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Browse through our newly redesigned website for more information about the conference, training schedule, deadlines and much more.
I hope you will join us in February for an unforgettable experience. On behalf of the entire staff of the conference, I look forward to seeing you at RCPNE MUNA 2008.

MUNA 2008 Background |
| |
MODEL UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY |
| |
Model United Nations is a simulation of the workings of the real United Nations. It provides an excellent forum for the discussion of complex global issues and allows students an opportunity to explore the powers and limitations of international negotiation.
Participants gain an insight into the workings of the United Nations by representing the policies of a chosen country, and, during a conference, they learn the importance of balancing national interests over the needs of the international community. MUN provides an exciting opportunity for students to debate issues that confront world leaders and, through lobbying and arduous discussion, they strive to reach consensus in the form of a formal written resolution.
RCPNE MUNA
| |
| |
Aim :
The main aim is to create international awareness among the youth and expose them to the procedures and working of the United Nations to resolve pertinent global issues. We also aim to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. |
| |
| |
Concept :
A number of students from various Institutions form teams with three participants per team, to represent a Nation at a simulated "Model United Nations Assembly". They will debate on topics of international concern such as the bomb blast in Bali - Indonesia, apartheid, drug production, terrorist groups around the world, etc. |
| |
| |
Explanation :
Each participating team is given a country to represent at the Model United Nations Assembly. Depending upon the country they represent each delegate participates in a different Assembly. Delegates research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
