Rtn. Mahesh started
100 beded Kotbagi Hospital during 1991,
in Aundh Area of Pune. It is multi-specialty
one, with modern diagnostic infrastructure,
supported by state of art communication
facilities. It is first ISO 9001-2000
certified hospital in Pune. He is also
a Chairman of Kotbagi Institute of Hospital
Management which is recognised by University
Of Pune.
Being a true Rotarian, Dr. Mahesh considers
`Service above Self’ as a guiding
philosophy of his life. While professionally
he has achieved enviable status, he is
equally keen in fulfilling his commitment
to the community. He serves as a Hon.
Secretary of 300 beded H V Desai Eye Hospital,
which performs more than hundred eye surgeries
every day free of cost, for the benefit
of poor and needy. He is also Hon. Secretary
of Poona Blind Men’s Association
and Founder Trustee of `Women Literacy
Centre’ Ashta Nokai Foundation,
Japan based NGO in Pune, as well as Kolumbus
Ambulance which deploys a fleet of 20
Ambulances. He is a Chairman of Chinmayi
Medical Foundation.
Rtn. Mahesh has equally illustrious track
record in Rotary. He joined Rotary Club
of Pune Sports City in 1995 as its Charter
Member. He served as Secretary of the
club and o board and all different committees
as a chairman. He was President of the
club in the year 1998-99. He excelled
in every capacity and as Principle in
Management, `work always flows to some
one who completes it’, many new
assignments at District Level came to
Rtn. Dr. Mahesh. He worked as a Counselor
for IYE incoming students, District Chairman
for International RYLA, Co-convenor of
Dist. Assembly which was attended by more
than 1100 Delegates coming from all the
corners of RID 3130. He also served as
GGR, GSR, and District Secretary (Programs).
He has attended Rotary Conventions, institutes,
Pre-convention Rotract and IYE meets.
A popular figure in Rotary Movement, Rtn.
Dr. Mahesh has visited several clubs as
a speaker both in India and abroad. He
has visited many countries like USA, JAPAN,
UK, Australia,Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia,
Thailand, Canada, Hawai, Nepal and many
more. He promoted Rotary Friendship Exchange
Program with RID 2620 in Japan and visited
them as a Team Leader. He is also a Rotary
Volunteer and has served overseas. He
was decorated with RI Four Avenue of Service
Citation Award.
Mahesh’s father,
a Medical Doctor by profession and a mother,
Doctor of Philosophy saw a dream of having
a son, who is academically sound, successful
professional, a social worker at heart
and ultimately a good human being. They
found their dream come true in Mahesh.
Mahesh’s wife Rtn. Dr. Amita (former
Anita) has filled his life in every possible
way. A childhood friend who became a life
partner is also a Doctor by profession.
In very hectic schedule of Mahesh, as
a true `Ardhangini’ she looks after
hospital along with Rtn. Dr. Mahesh. She
has firmly stood behind and also with
Mahesh at every difficult bent of life.
Rtn. Dr. Mahesh and Rtn. Dr. Amita are
blessed with two daughters, elder one
Chinmayi is twelve years old and younger
one Sana is just two years now.
Being the ardent admirer of nature, Rtn.
Dr. Mahesh takes a keen interest in out
door sporting activities like hang gliding,
para sailing, rifle / revolver shooting,
horse riding, motor cycle and car racing.
His zest for photography and architecture
has motivated him to travel to far corners
of the world. He enjoys seashores with
scotch, Indian classical music to Western
dances, traditional Indian food to barbeque
with candle light dinners. He is a true
connoisseur of good things available in
every walk of life.
Rtn. Dr. Mahesh is a superb blend of many
things. Though Hon. Professor in Medical
Faculty he looks like a college student,
and though a District Governor of RID
3130 in 2005-2006 it will be difficult
to make him out from the crowd of Rotaractors!
He is a unique combination, which represents
youth and dynamism with modesty and maturity!
Here is a person who with all his talents
and achievements is a sincere and trusted
friend and ultimately a good human being!
He is poised to lead our District to the
next century!
