Rtn Dr. Mahesh
started his100 bedded Kotbagi Hospital
during 1991, in Aundh Area of Pune.
It is a multi-specialty unit, with
modern diagnostic infrastructure,
supported by state of the art communication
facilities. This happens to be the
first ISO 9001-2000 certified hospital
in Pune. Rtn Dr. Mahesh is also
the Chairman of Kotbagi Institute
of Hospital Management which is
recognised by University Of Pune.
Being a true Rotarian, Dr. Mahesh
considers ‘Service above Self’
as a guiding philosophy of his life.
In spite of achieving enviable professional
status, he has been keen in fulfilling
his commitment to the community.
He serves as a Hon. Secretary of
300 bedded H V Desai Eye Hospital,
which performs more than hundred
free eye surgeries, every day, for
the benefit of poor and needy. He
has also been the Hon. Secretary
of Poona Blind Men’s Association
and Founder Trustee of Ashta Nokai
Foundation, Japan based NGO’s
‘Women Literacy Centre’
in Pune, as well as Kolumbus Ambulance
which deploys a fleet of 20 Ambulances.
He is also a Chairman of Chinmayi
Medical Foundation.
Rtn. Mahesh has an equally illustrious
track record in Rotary. He joined
Rotary Club of Pune Sports City
in 1995 as a Charter Member. He
served as Secretary of the club
and ably participated in all different
committees as chairman. He was President
of the club in the year 1998-99.
He excelled in almost every club
activity. As per the Principle in
Management, ‘Work always flows
to someone who completes it’,
he was invited to take up many new
assignments at the District Level.
He worked as a Counselor for IYE
Incoming Students, District Chairman
for International RYLA, Co-Convener
of Dist. Assembly which was attended
by more than 1100 Delegates from
every corner of RID 3130. He also
served as GGR, GSR, and District
Secretary (Programs). He has attended
Rotary Conventions, Institutes,
R.I.Convention, Rotaract and IYE
meets.
A popular figure in Rotary Movement,
Rtn Dr. Mahesh has visited several
clubs as a speaker both in India
and abroad. He has visited many
countries including USA, JAPAN,
UK, Australia, Mexico, Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, Hawaii
and Nepal. He promoted Rotary Friendship
Exchange Program with RID 2620 in
Japan and visited them as a Team
Leader. He is also a Rotary Volunteer
and has served overseas. He was
decorated with RI Four Avenue of
Service Citation Award.
Mahesh’s
father, a Medical Doctor by profession
and mother, Doctor of Philosophy
envisioned their son, being academically
sound, a successful professional,
and yet a social worker at heart
and a good human being. Their dream,
certainly, came true. Mahesh fulfilled
their every aspiration. Mahesh’s
wife Rtn. Dr. Amita also fulfilled
his expectations in life in every
possible way. Once a childhood friend
she became his life partner. Amita
also is a Doctor by profession.
Validating the meaning of the term
‘Ardhangini’ she has
been looking after several hospital
chores along with Rtn. Dr. Mahesh
and lighting his hectic burden and
constraints. She has firmly stood
by him along the way helping negotiate
all twists and turns of life. Rtn.
Dr. Mahesh and Rtn. Dr. Amita are
blessed with two daughters, elder
Chinmayi is twelve and younger one
Sana is hardly two years of age.
Being an ardent admirer of nature,
Rtn. Dr. Mahesh takes keen interest
in outdoor sporting activities like
hang gliding, parasailing, rifle/revolver
shooting, horse riding, motorbike
and car racing. His everlasting
enthusiasm for photography and architecture
has motivated him to travel to the
far corners of the world. He enjoys
resting on beaches, listening to
Indian classical music, participating
in Western dancing, savoring traditional
Indian food as well as candlelight
barbeque dinners. He is a true connoisseur
of choicest things accessible in
every walk of life.
Rtn. Dr. Mahesh is a superb blend
of diverse attributes. He is a unique
combination of youth and dynamism
blended with modesty and maturity!
This medical faculty looks so young
that he still can glide by as a
college student. Difficult to locate,
when this District Governor is mingling
among the crowd of Rotaractors!
Whoever attended the recent District
Conference experienced his incredible
and unbelievable organisational
capacity and youthful zest.
Here is a person who with all his
